Even though many top executive education programs charge significant fees, many programs are still very discerning about who they admit. Top programs want to protect the value of their brand and seek to admit qualified applicants who will add value to their program.
You need to effectively establish that you are a serious applicant. Programs do not want applicants who are only interested in adding another line to their resume. You need to convincingly show why you are ready to take it to the next level at this particular point in your career.
You also need to address questions that the program will implicitly ask when accessing your application: Given your experience and achievements, why return to school? Do you really need this educational experience? Why now? How will this educational experience add specific value to your professional goals and the organization that you represent? What are the strongest qualities that differentiate you from other top performers in your industry and why?
As an adult learner, you likely have many issues that may demand your attention, including work, family, and other obligations. While busy with many commitments, you need to establish that you can fully devote yourself to your studies and balance, without complications, your other obligations. You need to establish that you are willing to allocate the time required to meaningfully be involved in your studies.
You also need to establish why a particular program that you are applying to is a sound match. While you may think that this may be obvious, do not assume that this is the case. You need to present a well structure argument for this task, like all others. Demonstrate to the admissions committee that you are taking this application as analytically serious as any other important business decision. You want your application to reflect your executive level judgment skills.
